Why I’ve Made Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana a Beneficiary of an Annuity in My Will
"I have never known food insecurity. But, so many in our community are not as fortunate. To help in alleviating this problem, I've donated to local organizations committed to feeding the hungry.
Second Harvest has always impressed me, as it does a wonderful job of addressing this need. It operates an efficient and cost-effective system that coordinates the collection of grocery items and food (that would otherwise go to waste) and provides it to partner organizations for distribution to those in need in their communities. Furthermore, it cooks meals that are delivered to many entities, including soup kitchens, senior centers, after-school and summer programs, to those who are homeless, and to those displaced during natural disasters.
All segments of the population receive help: the young, elderly, homeless, and those down on their luck. It truly carries out the Corporal Work of Mercy to "feed the hungry." What an honor and a blessing to be involved with this organization!
I won't be here forever, but I want my charitable work to continue, as far as possible, after my death. To that end I've designated Second Harvest as a beneficiary of an Annuity in my Will. It is an organization to which I have had a deep and long-standing commitment."
